ABOUT THE PROJECT
The Tea Fauna Project aims to document and map the different species of animals living around tea to spread information and create a platform for tea farmers to learn what small friends are living among their plants. We believe that nature always knows best, and that if we let species live free with as little human impact as possible, we can create the most positive environment for everyone involved.
Tea is the most consumed beverage in the world and the industry is only growing. While this is happening, we must not lose focus on the life that surrounds this beautiful plant, and we at The Tea Fauna Project aim to do our part in creating thriving, rich environments for all creatures, while farmers still will be able to create a great cup of tea.
By using the Malaise traps we collect specimens from different tea locations in Southeast Asia. We also try to document as much as possible in the field, with insects in their natural habitat, in and around the tea. We’re always interested in collaborating with both scientists and people working in the tea business to expand our reach as we can’t always be out ourselves.
